We have been working for over 5 years to promote sustainable photovoltaic power production with expertise, passion and, above all, quality.

After contributing to the growth of the sector in Italy, we are now ready for a new era, featuring distributed power production and optimised asset management.
Our work is currently carried out by several companies. Kenergia Srl, Kenergia Sviluppo Srl, Kenergia Puglia Srl and Wise Energy Srl cover the whole life-cycle of photovoltaic power plants of any size: from the initial concept and the choice of the site to the planning, the design, the construction and the management of grid-connected power plants.

High-profile strategic consulting: Owner Engineer (OE) and Technical Advising

Ever since its creation, Kenergia has supported investors and banks in the various stages of development or trading of initiatives in the photovoltaic industry. We specialise in carrying out technical analyses of projects, in evaluating and assessing performances, in preparing contract specifications, choosing suppliers, preparing plant acceptance procedures, and any other aspect where specialist technical skills are required for correct start-up of photovoltaic plant installation.
Kenergia’s consultancy work to define and negotiate EPC and O&M contracts is crucial, especially for aspects related to guaranteeing production and effective plant operation throughout its useful life, and is also the result of Kenergia’s direct work in the O&M sector. Recently, Kenergia adopted a "quality protocol", which is always used to assess and certify finished and grid-connected plants.

The K-PVCS Monitoring and Control system

Installed in dozens of plants for a total power of over 25 MW, the K-PVCS system, entirely developed by Kenergia, is currently the system that best combines ease of use and state-of-the-art technology. A simple and user-friendly web interface allows monitoring all the main parameters of a photovoltaic power plant, managing alarms and actions and, as a result, ensuring the best technical and economic performances for future investments.
The K-PVCS system is under continuous development and represents the necessary precondition for devising a system to predict how much energy is generated by each photovoltaic plant.

Plant Management and Maintenance

Its technical know-how and the use of a proprietary monitoring system allowed Kenergia to become one of the first independent companies in the sector of plant operations and maintenance (“O&M”). Kenergia’s main feature is to work in the owner’s interest independently and autonomously from the plant’s constructor. We manage power plants with a capacity of a few kW up to 3MW with O&M contracts, ensuring the same care and attention we would devote to our own assets.

Distributed power production

The Italian PV system of the future was conceived in the province of Viterbo, with the GridParity2 project, promoted and led by Kenergia. This initiative started from an idea of the provincial authority, which promoted the construction of more than 1000 solar gazebos with 3 kW each and is now being extended to roof systems and larger applications.
The organisational and managerial competence gained with the GP2 project is now being proposed to other Italian regions, such as Apulia, through a new addition to Kenergia: Kenergia Puglia.

Kenergia Sviluppo Srl

Set up in 2008 and controlled by Kenergia, Kenergia Sviluppo offers "full packages" consisting of working and final plans, authorisations of projects, agreements and planning for connections to the local grid.
Kenergia Sviluppo has a team of expert technicians who contribute to the work with all the experience of the Kenergia Group, operating both "on their own" and with co-investors.
Until 2010, the company developed projects for over 200MW.

Wise Energy srl

WiseEnergy is a joint venture between Kenergia and the NextEnergy Capital fund. The company provides outsourcing services to large international investors that construct or purchase photovoltaic power plants in Italy, dealing with management issues on a full scale: from the supervision of Operation & Maintenance work with periodic inspections of the plants, to the management of financing contracts, administrative, tax, accounting and corporate management, etc.. WiseEnergy customers have access to their assets’ technical and management information via the web and receive detailed reports about the plants’ performance. The expertise of WiseEnergy’s team makes it possible optimise plant management, ensuring the maximum return on investment.

Special Projects

Grid Parity Project
Kenergia’s photovoltaic electricity competitiveness programme was implemented through the Grid Parity Project (GPP) association. The founders include a major international bank (BNP Paribas), a prestigious international legal firm (Norton Rose), and a selected nucleus of sector operators classified by their core business expertise: api nòva energia, Multiutility, Silfab and SunPower.
The aim of the Project is to sustain the evolution of photovoltaic energy to achieve a competitive edge over conventional energy sources by exploiting the experience of the promoting group and any future participants.
Recently, the GPP Association entered into a partnership with Associazione Energie Future (AEF).

Predictability of PV power plants
The output of photovoltaic plants is affected by the uncertainty in solar radiation.
For about one year, Kenergia has started developing a model for predicting the amount of energy generated by a photovoltaic plant in the next 24 hours.
The development is carried out in partnership with an international provider of weather data and is supervised by a dedicated internal unit.
The goal is to keep the prediction error for every hour of the next day below 10%.
